Summary:
The Principal is responsible for providing instructional leadership, planning, and coordinating the daily operations of Positive Beginnings Preschool (Metropolitan Ave.
Site/Main St Site) in compliance with the regulations set forth by the New York State Education Department, the New York City Department of Education and the New York City Department of Health relating to 4410 preschools and UPK programs.
Qualifications:
New York State Certification in General and Special Education New York State Certification in School Administration and Supervision At least 10 years of experience in Supervision and Administration Job
Responsibilities:
Provide Instructional Leadership:
Monitor and support instructional practices that promote student growth and achievement of IEP goals and PreK Foundations for the Common Core Supervise implementation of the program curriculum Preside over School Leadership Team to develop school-wide goals and invite parent involvement and participation Pan and develop monthly calendar of themes and special events Plan and coordinate staff development activities Plan and coordinate weekly supervisor and teacher meetings and monthly teaching assistant meetings to keep staff informed of current program information and school vision and mission Supervise Health and Safety of Staff and Students Plan and coordinate trainings of Safety Team Ensure adherence to all Emergency Procedures (fire drills, evacuation drills, lockdown procedures, sheltering -in drills) Ensure training of Safety Team members in CPR, First Aid and MAT Monitor adherence to health and safety guidelines of Department of Health Article 47 Develop guidelines for emergencies, communicable diseases and individual student health requirements Supervise Professional and Administrative Staff Ensure supervision and evaluation of professional staff in collaboration with Supervising Teacher/Assistant Principal, Lead Therapists/Clinical Coordinators Monitor Medicaid Compliance in Cooperation with Medicaid Compliance Officer Plan and Coordinate Staff Development Activities Supervise Administrative Staff Responsibilities including but not limited to:
Student Records Personnel Records Attendance Records Inventory With Approval of Executive and Program Directors Arrange for the Acquisition of School Supplies including but not limited to:
Furniture and Equipment Instructional Materials Computers, Printers etc Office, Cleaning Supplies and Paper Goods Children's Meals and Snacks Plan and Coordinate Parent Institute, Parent Support Group, Parent Orientation and Parent/Teacher Conferences In Consultation with Executive and Program Directors Recruit and Hire New Staff With participation of Assistant Principal, Lead Therapist oversee the training of new staff including teachers, teaching assistants, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, social workers and administrative staff Ensure new staff qualifications are met (including fingerprinting, certifications, SCR clearance etc.
) Oversee the Enrollment of New Students Coordinate Turning 5 Process Monitor Student Transportation Oversee timely bus transportation arrangements are made Act as a liaison with parents, bus company and OPT Monitor Annual Review Process Ensure timely submission of reports Monitor that changes in the program or services are implemented in a timely manner Supervise Facility Maintenance and Physical Environment Oversee activities of maintenance personnel Oversee environmental safety (fire alarm, fire safety inspections, elevator, pest control inspections etc.
